Heat 89, Bobcats 79: Mike Miller recorded season highs with seven 3-pointers and 26 points as visiting Miami held off Charlotte in a matchup of the teams with the NBA's best and worst records.

Chris Bosh added 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Rashard Lewis scored 14 points for the Heat, who were without stars LeBron James (hamstring) and Dwyane Wade (ankle), as well as reserve guard Ray Allen (ankle).

Rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist collected 18 points and a season-high 14 rebounds for the Bobcats, who got just 12 points on 3-of-15 shooting from leading scorer Kemba Walker.

The Bobcats kept it close for a half and were within 48-45 at the break before going cold in the third quarter. Charlotte scored only eight points on 3-of-16 shooting in the period as Miami stretched the lead to 66-53.

Charlotte clawed within 80-74 on Reggie Williams' dunk with two minutes left, but Miller answered with a layup at the other end and the Bobcats didn't get that close again.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami (59-16) matched the second-most wins in franchise history. The Heat won 61 games in 1996-97. … James (hamstring) and Wade (ankle) have missed the past three games, but the Heat have won two of them. … Miami has won 12 straight against Charlotte and has swept the season series for a third consecutive campaign.
