Knicks 96, Wizards 88: Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points and visiting New York rode a strong final quarter to post its third consecutive victory.

Raymond Felton added 23 points and J.R. Smith had 13 points and 12 rebounds off the bench as the Knicks won for the 11th time in the last 12 meetings with Washington.

Rookie Bradley Beal scored a career-high 29 points and John Wall had 16 for the Wizards, who were outscored 23-11 in the fourth and managed only two free throws in the final four minutes.

Beal had 12 points in the third and Washington closed the quarter with a 21-6 burst to take a 77-73 lead entering the final 12 minutes.

New York opened the fourth with 10 unanswered points to go ahead for good and built an 87-79 lead with 6:46 to play. A 3-pointer by Beal cut the deficit to 87-86 with 4:03 remaining but Anthony countered with a 3-pointer for a 92-87 edge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wizards F Nene sat out his second straight game due to a right shoulder injury and was replaced in the starting lineup by Chris Singleton. ... Anthony hit the crucial 3-pointer but continues to struggle from behind the arc, making 8 of 40 attempts over the last six games. ... Beal's first 3-pointer of the game set a single-season team record for a rookie with 76, eclipsing the mark held by current Lakers G Steve Blake.
