Wizards 106, Knicks 96: John Wall led a balanced effort with 21 points as host Washington defeated New York for the first time in their last 11 meetings.

Wall added nine assists to pace the Wizards, who have won seven of their last eight home games. Trevor Ariza had 20 points off the bench, Martell Webster added 19 and Nene racked up 13 points and 10 rebounds as Washington shot 53.2 percent from the field and connected on 11 of 20 3-point attempts.

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 31 points for the Knicks, who saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. Amar'e Stoudemire had 19 points in a reserve role and Raymond Felton added 17 in defeat.

Webster had 13 points and Ariza added 11 as the Wizards emerged from a tightly contested opening half with a 51-48 advantage. The lead grew to seven early in the third quarter before the Knicks stormed back, jumping ahead on a long Felton 3-pointer with 1:28 remaining and carrying a 73-70 lead into the fourth.

Ariza responded with a four-point play to open the final period, keying a 12-3 run that put the Wizards ahead for good. Chris Singleton and Ariza knocked down 3-pointers to make it 88-80, Nene added an emphatic dunk on a Wall feed near the midway point of the quarter and Ariza put the game away with a short jumper with 2:02 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK
: Stoudemire, who shot 75 percent from the field during New York's perfect 5-0 homestand, shot 6-for-11 against the Wizards. ... Tyson Chandler hauled in 13 rebounds, falling short in his quest to become the first player in Knicks history with four consecutive 20-rebound games. Chandler shares the club record with Willis Reed. ... Wall (six) and Anthony (five) had 11 of the game's 20 turnovers.
