Grizzlies 106, Lakers 93: Darrell Arthur paced a balanced attack with 20 points in a reserve role as host Memphis cruised past reeling Los Angeles.

Arthur led six players in double figures for the Grizzlies, who used a 35-point second quarter to build a sizable lead and clamped down defensively to make it stand up. Mike Conley added 19 points while Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay and Tony Allen had 12 apiece.

Kobe Bryant had 29 points for the Lakers, who lost Dwight Howard to a right shoulder injury in the second quarter. Howard, who missed time with an injury to the same shoulder earlier in the season, pointed to it as he spoke with head coach Mike D'Antoni before making his way to the locker room.

The Grizzlies broke open a tight game midway through the second quarter, hitting 10 straight shots during a 22-8 run that put them ahead 52-38. Gay stemmed a Lakers rally with a 16-foot jumper with 2:29 remaining in the half and added a long 3-pointer with six seconds left to propel Memphis into the break with a 59-50 advantage.

Six straight points from Bryant drew the Lakers within three, but they managed just two field goals in the final 6:28 of the third quarter as the Grizzlies carried an 83-73 lead into the fourth. Memphis used its stifling defense to put the game away, limiting Los Angles to just two made field goals in the first 9 1/2 minutes of the final period while leading by as many as 21 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: D'Antoni said Howard will be evaluated when the team returns to Los Angeles. Howard, who vowed to be better following a heated team meeting, had two points and two rebounds in 14 minutes. ... Memphis dominated the boards, finishing with a 52-34 advantage. ... Randolph and Gay had 11 of the Grizzlies' 12 turnovers.
