Celtics 107, Raptors 89: Rajon Rondo tied a season high with 20 assists in his return from a sprained right ankle as Boston posted its ninth straight home victory over Toronto.

Jason Terry led the Celtics with a season-best 20 points and Paul Pierce added 19, but it was Rondo's return that made the difference for a team that had a season-low 17 assists Thursday in Brooklyn. Rondo recorded his 33rd straight game with at least 10 assists as the Celtics shot 56.6 percent and finished with 37 assists on 43 baskets.

Kevin Garnett added 15 points and rookie Jared Sullinger chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.

Andrea Bargnani scored 11 of his 15 points in the third quarter for the Raptors, who lost for the seventh time in nine games. Reserve John Lucas III scored 11 of his 15 points in the second quarter while DeMar DeRozan and Jose Calderon added 10 points apiece.

Boston never trailed but had its lead threatened several times, including a third-quarter Raptors surge that closed the gap to 63-61 with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the period. Rondo had five assists the rest of the quarter and Terry hit three three-pointers as the Celtics used a 16-3 run to seize a 79-64 lead entering the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rondo had assists on six of Boston's first eight baskets before scoring his first points. He has had 20 or more assists six times in his career. ... Boston's last three home victories over Toronto have been by a combined 76 points. ... Toronto had 12 more free-throw attempts but shot just 21-of-31. ... Garnett played a season-low 17 minutes.
