Hawks 104, Thunder 95: Al Horford collected 23 points and 12 rebounds and visiting Atlanta overcame the absence of Josh Smith to take down Oklahoma City.

Lou Williams scored 14 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter and Jeff Teague contributed 16 points and five assists for the Hawks, who left Smith back in Atlanta after the forward suffered an ankle injury in the opener.

Kevin Martin scored 28 points off the bench and Kevin Durant piled up 22 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for the defending Western Conference champion Thunder, who dropped to 1-2.

Horford tied it at 81-81 on a jumper with 7:28 left before Williams took over, scoring Atlanta’s next 10 points to push the lead to 91-84. Oklahoma pulled back within one possession on Martin’s 3-pointer with 4:05 left but a 9-2 run gave the Hawks some breathing room.

Durant and Russell Westbrook each scored again but Williams hit four free throws in the final 20 seconds to put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Westbrook was held to 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting but chipped in nine assists. … Martin, who is taking over James Harden’s role as the sixth man, went 8-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. … The Thunder turned the ball over 21 times, leading to 31 points for the Hawks.
