Pacers 90, Raptors 88: George Hill hit a runner with 2.1 seconds remaining, allowing Indiana to edge Toronto and escape Air Canada Centre with a victory in the mutual season opener for both teams.

Before Hill's shot, Indiana hadn't led since just inside the 10-minute mark of the third quarter. The Pacers fell behind by as many as 11 and still trailed 84-74 with 5:58 to go in the fourth period. However, Indiana answered with an 11-2 run to get back into the game. The Raptors, who missed eight of their final nine shots from the floor, still clung to an 88-87 lead entering the final minute until Hill tied the game by making the first of two free throws with 59.5 seconds left.

David West was instrumental in Indiana's comeback. He finished with 25 points, 14 of which came in the fourth quarter. Paul George and Roy Hibbert added 14 points apiece for Indiana, with George also pulling down 15 rebounds. Indiana was playing without star forward Danny Granger, out indefinitely with knee soreness, but still outrebounded Toronto 46-42 and shot 47.4 percent from the field.

Toronto had one last chance to at least tie the game, but Andrea Bargnani's fadeaway jumper did not fall. Kyle Lowry led the way for the Raptors in his first game with the franchise, compiling 21 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Bargnani added 16 points and Jose Calderon contributed 15 off the bench.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas posted 12 points and 10 boards in his NBA debut, a performance punctuated by a monstrous slam dunk. Valanciunas was the first-round pick of Toronto in last year's draft but his Lithuanian team wouldn't release him to play for the Raptors until this season. … Indiana won despite committing 18 turnovers. … Aside from Calderon, who went 6-for-12 on field-goal attempts, the Raptors' reserves were 6-of-18 from the floor.
