GRIZZLIES 91, TIMBERWOLVES 84: Rudy Gay had 28 points and nine rebounds as visiting Memphis handed Minnesota its 11th consecutive loss.

Zach Randolph added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Mike Conley had 16 points and eight assists as the Grizzlies moved closer to wrapping up the fifth seed for the Western Conference playoffs.

J.J. Barea scored a season-best 28 points to go with eight assists and Nikola Pekovic added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who were without All-Star forward Kevin Love for the fourth consecutive game due to a concussion.

The loss was the 27th in a row during the month of April for Minnesota, setting an NBA record for most consecutive defeats in a particular month.

The Grizzlies missed 14 of 15 shots during the final quarter before Gay got hot and scored nine straight Memphis points.

The contest was tied at 82 before Gay scored on a layup with 2:36 to play and he knocked down a 3-pointer 42 seconds later. He capped his personal spurt with two free throws with 43 seconds left to make it 89-84.

The Timberwolves trailed by 10 points late in the third quarter but used a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to turn a nine-point deficit into a 81-80 lead with 5:40 remaining.

Minnesota scored just 28 second-half points and shot just 29.4 percent from the field in the half. Overall, the Timberwolves shot 35.6 percent.

Marreese Speights added 12 points for Memphis.
