JAZZ 123, MAVERICKS 121: Devin Harris drained the go-ahead 3-pointer as host Utah outlasted Dallas in a triple-overtime thriller.

Al Jefferson had 28 points and matched his career-high with 26 rebounds as the Jazz moved within a half-game of eighth-place in the Western Conference playoff race. Houston and Phoenix are tied for the eighth and final spot.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 40 points for the second straight time against Utah but the Mavericks fell behind the Denver Nuggets and into seventh in the West.

Gordon Hayward scored 24 points and Harris tallied 23 points, with his fifth 3-pointer of the contest giving Utah a 118-115 lead with 1:38 to play. Jefferson added a basket 31 seconds later as the Jazz survived the crucial marathon contest.

Jason Terry scored 27 points and Vince Carter added 18 points and 12 rebounds for Dallas.

Dallas trailed by nine points with five minutes left in the regulation but hit three 3-pointers – two by Carter – in a 60-second span to take an 89-87 lead with 8.5 seconds left. Utah forced overtime when Paul Millsap slammed home a follow with 2.2 seconds left.

The Jazz had a four-point lead late with 21.5 seconds left in the first overtime but Nowitzki drained a tying 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds left to necessitate the second OT.

Jefferson’s basket with 29 seconds left in the second extra session forced the third overtime.

The teams combined for 26 3-pointers, 14 by Dallas and 12 by Utah.

Millsap scored 16 points and DeMarre Carroll added 15 for the Jazz.

Delonte West added 16 points for Dallas.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Millsap was the most recent Utah player to grab 20 rebounds in game – he had 24 against Golden State late in the 2009-10 campaign. … Nowitzki had 40 points against Utah on March 3 … The Jazz had a 53-41 rebounding edge. … Point guard Jason Kidd had four of Dallas’ 13 steals.
