KINGS 104, BLAZERS 103: Marcus Thornton hit a jumper at the buzzer and DeMarcus Cousins scored 23 points as host Sacramento snapped a seven-game slide.

After Wesley Matthews hit a 3-pointer with 5.2 seconds left to give the Blazers the lead, the Kings called a timeout and drew up the play for Thornton. Sacramento’s leading scorer took a pass from Isaiah Thomas and buried a 17-foot jumper for the win.

Thornton finished with 20 points and Thomas collected 18 points and eight assists for the Kings.

Sacramento shot under 40 percent in the first half and went into the break trailing, 54-46. But the Kings caught fire in the third quarter, making their first six shots to cut it to a one-point deficit. Cousins, who was held to four points in the first half, exploded for 12 points in the third while Thomas added nine to go into the fourth trailing 81-79.

Portland held Sacramento off until Cousins capped a 10-0 to give the Kings their first lead of the half, 95-93, with 3:25 left.

The Blazers took the lead back with just over a minute left before Tyreke Evans’ free throws knotted it again, 100-100, with 39 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Matthews scored 31 points to lead Portland, which was without Jamal Crawford and LaMarcus Aldridge. … The Blazers committed 17 turnovers. … The Kings were playing their first home game since it was announced that a deal to keep the team in town had fallen through.
