SUNS 125, LAKERS 105: Shannon Brown scored 24 points against his former team to lead seven players in double figures as host Phoenix beat the Kobe Bryant-less Los Angeles Lakers.

Michael Redd scored 23 points off the bench and Marcin Gortat had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Suns, who hit 14 3-pointers and committed just three turnovers in beating their Pacific Division-leading foes.

Bryant did not suit up because of inflammation in his left shin, ending his consecutive games played streak at 138. He is set to be re-evaluated on Monday.

Pau Gasol attempted to pick up the slack with 30 points and 13 rebounds while Andrew Bynum had 23 points and 18 rebounds for Los Angeles.

The Suns outscored the Lakers 38-25 in the second quarter to grab a 62-57 halftime lead and continued to build it from there.

Gortat started a 12-4 run late in the third period. Brown had a pair of jumpers around baskets from Channing Frye and Steve Nash before Josh Childress closed the spurt with a short bucket for the 93-79 lead.

The Lakers got as close as 109-99 with 4:05 to play on Metta World Peace’s 3-pointer, but Frye answered with a 3-pointer of his own to end any hopes of a late comeback.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bryant had played in all 56 of the Lakers’ games this season and all 82 last season. He leads the league in scoring at 28.1 points per game. Devin Ebanks started in place of Bryant and had 12 points in 32 minutes. … Nash finished with 11 assists for the Suns.
