Derrick Rose scored 31 points and the visiting Chicago Bulls held off Minnesota's comeback bid for a 111-100 win over the Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

Rose, who scored 14 points in the first quarter, shot 12 of 22 from the field and had 11 assists as Chicago beat Minnesota for the fifth straight time.

Luol Deng had 21 points with 11 rebounds for the Bulls, who made 11 of 20 3-pointers.

Chicago (9-2) couldn't hold a 51-27 second-quarter lead as Minnesota used a 20-2 run late in the period to pull within 53-47 at halftime.

Luke Ridnour's 3-pointer tied the game at 70-all with 3:46 left in the third quarter, but Chicago regained control. Ronnie Brewer scored five straight points for the Bulls, who never relinquished the lead again.

Ridnour led Minnesota (3-7) with 22 points and Kevin Love added 20 points and 13 rebounds.

The Bulls scored 16 consecutive points late in the first quarter to build a 29-11 lead. The lead reached 24 points with 5:29 remaining before halftime when Minnesota rallied.

Love sparked the run with 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and the Timberwolves trailed by six at halftime.

Minnesota rookie Ricky Rubio scored 13 points and had 12 assists.
