The Cleveland Cavaliers tied an NBA record for the longest losing streak in a single season with their 23rd consecutive loss, a 112-105 setback to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

The Cavs carried a rare 84-83 lead into the fourth quarter, but they failed to score a basket for the first 4 ½ minutes as Memphis took control.

Zach Randolph, who was left off the Western Conference All-Star team a day earlier, had 29 points and 13 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Rudy Gay had 26 points and 11 rebounds while Mike Conley recorded 21 points and eight assists for the Grizzlies, who scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter.

J.J. Hickson had 31 points and 15 rebounds and Ramon Sessions added 20 points and 11 assists for Cleveland, which hasn't won since beating the New York Knicks in overtime, 109-102, on Dec. 18.

The Cavs tie the losing streak previously set by these same Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets. Cleveland coach Byron Scott was a player on the Grizzlies team that set the mark.

Cleveland can break the record in a home game against Portland on Saturday.
