Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and nine rebounds to help the Dallas Mavericks to a 127-109 victory over the visiting New York Knicks on Thursday.

Shawn Marion scored 22 points and eight rebounds and Jason Terry had 21 points as the Mavericks (47-18) won for the 20th time in 23 games.

Amar’e Stoudemire scored 36 points to lead New York (34-30), which had its three-game winning streak snapped.

Dallas hit 11 of 24 3-point attempts en route to defeating New York for the 10th time in the last 11 meetings.

Landry Fields had 19 points, Carmelo Anthony had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Toney Douglas had 18 points and eight assists for the Knicks.

New York trailed by 25 points past the midway part of the third quarter before scoring 12 straight points to cut the Dallas lead to 94-81 with 2:13 left in the quarter.

Dallas led by 10 points after one quarter and 72-51 at halftime. Marion scored six points in a 12-0 run that saw the Mavericks take a 24-14 lead with 3:04 left in the first quarter.

The lead reached 24 on Terry’s basket with 2:08 left in the half.

New York was 35 for 37 from the free-throw line one night after shooting a franchise-low four free-throw attempts against the Memphis Grizzlies.
