Amar’e Stoudemire played through a sprained knee to score 33 points in 40 minutes as the host New York Knicks pulled away to a 124-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.

Danilo Gallinari scored 29 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the first 2:30 of the fourth quarter to help the Knicks (25-22) break a 91-91 tie.

Rookie center Timofey Mozgov had career highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds in 39 minutes for the Knicks in his first action since Jan. 9. Mozgov averaged 2.3 points, two rebounds and 10 minutes in his previous 26 games.

Mozgov entered the game with 7:08 left in the first quarter after starting center Ronny Turiaf picked up his second foul.

Ben Gordon scored a season-high 35 points, including 16 in the third quarter for the Pistons (17-31), who were without leading scorer Rodney Stuckey for the second straight game due to a shoulder injury.

Rookie Greg Monroe had 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for Detroit.

Stoudemire injured his knee Friday against Atlanta and was a game-time decision. After a slow start, he found his stride with 26 points in the second half as the Knicks erased an eight-point deficit in the third quarter.
