Chauncey Billups hit the go-ahead basket and Carmelo Anthony had 26 points and nine rebounds as the Denver Nuggets posted a 120-118 victory over the visiting New York Knicks on Tuesday.

The loss was the sixth in a row for the Knicks (3-8).

Denver (6-5) had a 12-point lead entering the fourth quarter but New York staged an impressive rally, catching the Nuggets at 109-109 on two free throws by Wilson Chandler with 3:07 remaining.

Billups, who scored 13 points, hit the pivotal basket 15 seconds later to put Denver ahead to stay. Ty Lawson drained a jumper on the next possession and the Nuggets held off New York down the stretch, helped by Raymond Felton’s turnover with 11.6 seconds when the Knicks trailed by three points.

Al Harrington scored 22 points and fellow reserve Gary Forbes added 19 and nine rebounds for Denver. Nene scored 17 points.

Amar’e Stoudemire scored 24 points Chandler had 23 points and five blocks, rookie Landry Fields had 21 points and 17 rebounds, Danilo Gallinari contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds and Felton had 19 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.
