Jason Terry scored 32 points and tied an NBA postseason record with nine 3-point baskets as the host Dallas Mavericks finished off a sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers with a rousing 122-86 victory on Sunday.

J.J. Barea scored 22 points and Peja Stojakovic had 21 points while hitting all six of his 3-point attempts as the third-seeded Mavericks closed out the Western Conference semifinal series in style. Dallas tied an NBA postseason record by making 20 3-point baskets while eliminating the two-time defending champion Lakers.

Terry made 9-of-10 of his 3-point attempts to match the postseason record shared by Milwaukee’s Ray Allen (2001), Toronto’s Vince Carter (2001) and Phoenix’s Rex Chapman (1997). The Mavericks set a record for a four-game series with 49 3-point baskets.

The second-seeded Lakers were just the fifth reigning champions to be swept in a playoff series in what was likely the final game of Phil Jackson’s coaching career.

Kobe Bryant scored 17 points to pace the Lakers, who unraveled in the final quarter with Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum both getting ejected in a 45-second span after flagrant fouls.

Dirk Nowitzki added 17 points for the Mavericks, who shot 60.3 percent from the field and were 20-of-32 from 3-point range. The 1996 Seattle SuperSonics also made 20 3-pointers in a playoff game.

Dallas will face either Oklahoma City or Memphis in the Western Conference finals. Memphis leads that series 2-1.

Terry had 20 points and hit 6-of-7 3-pointers as Dallas took a 63-39 halftime lead. Terry had five of Dallas’ seven second-quarter 3-pointers as the Mavericks outscored the Lakers 36-16.
