ORLANDO, Fla. -- Utah guard Rodney Hood does not want to be a starter. He just wants to be a star.

Hood played his reserve role to perfection Saturday night, scoring a season-high 31 points and hitting seven 3-pointers to lead his Jazz to a dominating, 125-85 victory over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.

The Jazz (7-10) snapped a three-game losing streak while winning their first road game of the season, leaning heavily on the aggressiveness of Hood.

The Magic (8-8) lost their fourth consecutive game and scored a season low. The 40-point loss Saturday was tied for the worst home loss in franchise history, dating back to January 1991.

"We needed this one badly to get back the winning feeling," Hood said. "It felt good to be part of that tonight. I like taking control."

Hood, whose role this season has bounced back and forth from starter to reserve, scored 19 consecutive points for the Jazz, spanning late in the third and early in the fourth quarter when they smothered the Magic.

"It doesn't matter to me (whether I start or play in reserve). I just like playing. I like playing with the second unit, coming off the bench. I am the guy that they look for to take control when I'm in the game, being aggressive whether it is shooting the ball or making plays for others. The second unit kind of feeds off me."

The Jazz, who came into the game averaging 99 points, never trailed en route to a season-high point total.

Jazz center Derrick Favors scored 25 points, hitting 10 of 12 shots from the field, and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Donovan Mitchell had 12 points and hit three of his four 3-pointers. Jonas Jerebko scored 15 points.

Aaron Gordon led the Magic with 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Terrence Ross scored 12 points and Evan Fournier had 11. Reserve Marreese Speights hit 3 of 7 3-pointers for 11 points.

"We just played our worst game of the season tonight," Magic coach Frank Vogel said. "Credit the Jazz. They played a terrific game and we did not."

The Jazz outrebounded the Magic 54-46. They also had 31 assists to 13 for the Magic. The Jazz shot 48 percent (47 of 98) from the field.

"We just played really well tonight," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "Everybody was in the right mindset and very focused tonight. I thought we were very active defensively, and when we are, the offense becomes easier."

The Jazz led by 15 points at halftime and built their lead throughout the third and fourth quarters.

Hood, who hit 12 of 21 shots from the floor and 7 of 13 from 3-point range, closed the third quarter by hitting three consecutive 3-pointers, handing the Jazz a 97-67 lead.

Hood opened the fourth quarter with two 3-pointers. The Magic looked helpless trying to slow him.

He scored 30 points earlier in the week in a loss to the Knicks, also playing in a reserve role. He had 17 points as a starter Friday night against the Nets.

"Everybody just kept trying to find him (Hood) so he could keep hitting those shots," Favors said. "He played incredible for us. Those were big momentum plays for us. We are going to need that going forward."

The Jazz led 63-48 at intermission, riding a big first half from Favors, who hit all seven of his shots and led all scorers with 17 points.

The Jazz hit 24 of 42 shots (57 percent) in the first half when they led by as many as 16 points.

Utah led 29-26 after the first quarter but opened the second with an 18-5 run. Gordon had 10 points for Orlando in the first quarter, but he cooled quickly.
