Hawks 93, Heat 91: Dennis Schroder had 16 points and tied a career high with 10 assists and shorthanded Atlanta's defense swarmed host Miami.

Paul Millsap scored 22 points for the Hawks, who played without starters Jeff Teague (thigh), DeMarre Carroll (shoulder) and Al Horford (personal), and reserve Pero Antic (knee). Kent Bazemore scored 15 points and John Jenkins 12 as Atlanta held Miami to 39.5 percent shooting while forcing the Heat into a season-high 23 turnovers in winning its fourth straight game after losing three of four.

Hassan Whiteside had 14 points and matched his career best with 24 rebounds for the Heat, whose 33 first-half points were their second fewest in a half this season and their 14 first-half turnovers tied a season high. Starters Goran Dragic and Henry Walker combined to shoot 5-of-23 and Luol Deng, who was averaging 24 points over his last three games, was held to eight points on 2-of-7 shooting and committed a season-high eight turnovers.

Miami chipped away at an 18-point third quarter deficit, closing within 65-62 on a pair of free throws by Dragic with 9:58 to play. Atlanta's Kyle Korver drained a 3-pointer during a quick 10-6 burst to restore a seven-point edge, Millsap drained a 3-pointer from the left corner to build an 84-74 edge with 3:43 left and Atlanta withstood a pair of meaningless 3-pointers in the final seconds to improve to 3-0 against Miami this season.

Millsap scored eight points in the first quarter and Atlanta held Miami to 5-of-20 shooting to take a 17-12 lead before Jenkins drained three 3-pointers in the second to push the lead to 15. Miami crept within 43-33 at the half but a 3-pointer by Schroder helped push the lead to 18 early in the third.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Heat F Chris Bosh (blood clots), out for the rest of the season, was released from the hospital. … Whiteside recorded 10 rebounds in the first quarter and his 16 defensive rebounds were a career high. ... Hawks F Elton Brand (7 points, 8 rebounds) made his first start of the season and Schroder improved to 6-0 as a starter this season.
