Wizards 93, Jazz 84: John Wall had 16 points and eight assists as the host Wizards woke up in the second half to avoid a letdown against the Jazz.
Bradley Beal scored a game-high 22 points and Wall added five steals and three blocks for the Wizards, who trailed by five at the half to the struggling Jazz after a resounding 104-96 victory Friday snapped the Los Angeles Clippers' nine-game winning streak. Paul Pierce scored 15 points as the Wizards improved to 12-2 at home - its best start in franchise history.
Alec Burks scored 19 points and Gordon Hayward 16 for the Jazz, who have lost 11 of their last 12 games. Trey Burke had 15 points and five rebounds as Utah was held to just 38.5 percent shooting in failing to reach 100 points for the 15th time in its last 19 games.
After trailing for much of the first half, Washington closed the third quarter on a 19-7 run, getting six points and three assists from Wall and 3-pointers by Beal and Pierce to take a 67-59 lead. The lead stretched to 15 but Utah closed within six during an 11-2 run before Kris Humphries fed Wall with 2:17 left for a hoop on a perfectly executed play after a timeout, and Beal iced it with a pullup jumper and a drive to lift the Wizards to their seventh straight home triumph.
In a first half that featured six ties and lead changes, Utah converted 12 Washington turnovers into 21 points, and got nine points from Burke. The Wizards shot 6-of-22 in the second quarter and the Jazz scored eight straight points late to take a 42-37 edge at the half.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jazz F Derrick Favors (ankle) missed the game after getting injured Friday against Miami. … Despite the great all-around performance, Wall's career-best streak of seven consecutive double-digit assist games was snapped. …This was the first of a six-game road trip for Utah which will end Dec. 22 at Memphis.
