Nuggets 111, Grizzlies 108: Ty Lawson led the way with 18 points and 12 assists as host Denver held off Memphis to snap an eight-game losing streak.

Kenneth Faried and Timofey Mozgov each added 16 points for the Nuggets, who had not dropped nine in a row since a 14-game slide in 2002. Nate Robinson collected 15 points and seven assists off the bench and split a pair of free throws with 4.1 seconds left that provided the winning margin for Denver.

Zach Randolph recorded 25 points and 13 rebounds while Mike Conley had 23 points and eight assists for the Grizzlies. Tayshaun Prince added 13 points but Mike Miller was held to four points on 1-of-3 shooting and missed the tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

The Nuggets shot 54.8 percent from the field in the first half to take a 58-48 lead into the break but went cold at the start of the third quarter. The Grizzlies began the second half with a 21-6 run as Denver managed only three field goals in the first eight-plus minutes of the period.

The Nuggets recovered with a brief flurry and took a 77-75 lead into the fourth, spreading it out to a 10-point edge on Robinson’s 3-pointer with 9:30 to play. Memphis crawled back within 98-96 before Robinson connected again from beyond the arc, and Lawson’s 3-pointer with 53 seconds remaining allowed Denver to hang on.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Denver PG Andre Miller served the first of a two-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team and will not travel with the team to Los Angeles for Sunday’s clash with the Lakers. … Randolph’s double-double was his third straight and ninth in the last 11 contests. … Memphis’ bench, which scored a season-high 62 points in a 120-99 home win over the Nuggets last week, was limited to 26 points.
