Knicks 105, Spurs 101: Iman Shumpert scored a career-high 27 points, including the go-ahead tip-in with 23.4 seconds left, as visiting New York posted a stunning upset of San Antonio.
Carmelo Anthony had 27 points and 12 rebounds in his return from an ankle injury that sidelined him for three games. Shumpert made six 3-pointers and was 10-of-13 from the field as the Knicks snapped a three-game losing streak.
Marco Belinelli scored a career-best 32 points on 12-of-16 shooting and knocked down six 3-pointers for the Spurs, who had a three-game winning streak halted. Tony Parker contributed 12 points and seven assists and Manu Ginobili added 11 points and 12 assists
San Antonio trailed by nine after Shumpert’s 3-pointer with 4:48 to play before going on a 13-2 run. Belinelli hit two 3-pointers and Duncan’s basket with two minutes left gave the Spurs their first lead of the second half at 98-96 before the Knicks recovered and outplayed them down the stretch.
Shumpert had 16 first-half points and Anthony tallied 14 to help New York to a 52-47 edge. The Knicks led by as many as 11 in the third quarter before settling for an 81-75 lead entering the final stanza.
GAME NOTEBOOK: F Amar’e Stoudemire added 11 points off the bench for New York. … The Spurs were 14-of-32 from 3-point range and the Knicks were 9-of-17. … The Knicks played without PG Raymond Felton (groin), F Metta World Peace (knee) and G Pablo Prigioni (toe).
