Rockets 105, Warriors 83:
James Harden scored 34 points as Houston jumped out early and dominated visiting Golden State.

Dwight Howard collected 22 points and 18 rebounds for the Rockets, who clipped a two-game slide. Terrence Jones added 16 points and 10 boards as Houston built up a 52-43 advantage on the glass.

Stephen Curry went 11-of-11 from the free-throw line en route to 22 points but committed eight turnovers for the Warriors, who dropped to 5-7 on the road. Harrison Barnes added 14 points for Golden State.

The Warriors went 4-for-20 from the field in the first quarter, making one less field goal than Jones alone as the Rockets jumped out to a 31-12 lead after the first 12 minutes. Howard took advantage of Golden State’s misfires to grab nine boards in the period.

Curry scored 14 points in the second quarter to try to drag the Warriors back into the game but Houston still coasted into the half with a 61-37 cushion. The Rockets scored the first five points of the third quarter to make it a 28-point gap before settling for an 87-66 lead heading to the fourth.

Golden State kept most of its starters on the bench for the fourth quarter and got the deficit under 20 but never threatened. Harden’s 3-pointer with 3:27 left gave Houston a 98-78 lead before it emptied its bench.

Harden, who struggled to 3-for-17 from the field and missed all 10 of his 3-point attempts in a loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, ended up 13-for-22. The Warriors turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 23 points for the Rockets.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Golden State leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage but hit just 2-of-16 from beyond the arc. … Howard has posted 18 rebounds in back-to-back games after failing to top 11 in any of the previous five. … Rockets G Jeremy Lin (knee) missed his fifth straight game.
