Mavericks 97, 76ers 94: Monta Ellis had 24 points and 10 assists as Dallas defeated Philadelphia to improve to 5-0 at home.

Dirk Nowitzki contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds and Shawn Marion also scored 20 for the Mavericks, who beat the 76ers at home for the eighth straight time. Jose Calderon chipped in with 14 points and made four 3-pointers.

Evan Turner had 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and Tony Wroten added 19 points and five steals for Philadelphia, which lost its third straight game. James Anderson added 14 points, Thaddeus Young had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Spencer Hawes contributed 10 points and 11 boards.

Philadelphia trailed 90-87 after Anderson’s 3-pointer with 3:44 remaining before Calderon drained a 3-pointer to start a 6-0 run that made it a nine-point margin. A basket by Young with four seconds left pulled the 76ers within three but Dallas was able to avoid being fouled to run out the clock.

The 76ers led by as many as 10 in the second quarter before settling for a 47-43 lead at the break. Philadelphia led by seven with less than four minutes left in the third quarter before the Mavericks closed with a 14-4 run to lead 74-71 entering the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Reserve C Samuel Dalembert had three of Dallas’ 11 blocked shots. … Philadelphia rookie PG Michael Carter-Williams (foot) missed his fourth consecutive contest. … The Mavericks won despite committing 21 turnovers to Philadelphia’s 12.
