Heat 110, Mavericks 104: LeBron James scored a season-high 39 points and Dwyane Wade chipped in with 17 as host Miami beat Dallas for the fifth straight time.

James was 14-of-18 from the field and Wade recorded eight assists and eight steals for the Heat, who have won five of their last six games. Chris Bosh registered 14 points while Norris Cole and Rashard Lewis added 11 apiece off the bench for Miami.

Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 28 points for the Mavericks, who play at Orlando on Saturday. Vince Carter contributed 21 points and Monta Ellis had 20 for Dallas, which made 12 from 3-point range.

Nowitzki scored 12 in the first quarter as the Mavericks led by as much as seven before James’ 13 points helped pull the Heat within 32-31 after 12 minutes. Miami scored 12 of the first 15 points in the second quarter to seize the lead and shot 59 percent from the field in the first half overall – including 5-of-7 from Wade – for a 60-51 lead.

Dallas battled back and took a 72-70 lead on Jose Calderon’s 3-pointer with 3:19 left in the third before James scored nine in a 16-6 run to end the quarter. The Mavericks closed within 100-99 on Nowitzki’s basket with 2:31 left, but James’ 15-footer started an 8-0 run that sealed the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Calderon had five assists, becoming the 100th player in NBA history to record 4,000 in his career. He has 4,004. … Miami F Udonis Haslem missed his third consecutive game with back spasms and G Ray Allen was out with the flu for the second straight contest. … Miami G Mario Chalmers was ejected after elbowing Nowitzki.
