Heat 90, Pacers 79: LeBron James scored 16 of his 30 points in the decisive third quarter as host Miami took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference finals over Indiana.

James added eight rebounds and six assists and Udonis Haslem scored 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting for the Heat, who will attempt to close out the series at Indiana on Saturday.

Paul George collected 27 points and 11 rebounds, Roy Hibbert scored 22 and David West added 17 but the Pacers could not keep pace in the second half.

Indiana took a 44-40 lead into the break and held a 51-49 edge midway through the third period when James began to take over. The star forward scored 12 points and recorded a pair of assists during a 21-6 run to end the quarter, including a deep 3-pointer with 16 seconds left as the shot clock was winding down.

The Pacers chopped the deficit to eight points early in the fourth quarter but Ray Allen hit a 3-pointer to spark an 11-4 run and the Heat were able to keep the lead at double figures the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: James, West and Pacers F Lance Stephenson were each fined $5,000 by the NBA for flopping in Game 4. James, who fouled out of Game 4, was called for only one foul in Game 5 while Stephenson, who had the defensive assignment on James most of the night, fouled out in the fourth quarter. … The teams combined for five technical fouls on players. Reserve Fs Chris Andersen (Miami) and Tyler Hansbrough (Indiana) got tangled up and stared each other down in the second quarter. They received double technicals and Andersen was hit with a flagrant foul type 1 after shoving Hansbrough in the chest. … After being outrebounded by 19 and outscored in the paint by 18 in Game 4, Miami cut the gap to 33-32 on the boards and took the advantage in the paint, 34-32.
