Mavericks 110, Suns 95: Shawn Marion had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists in his 1,000th career game to help host Dallas defeat Phoenix for the 10th time in 11 meetings.

Dirk Nowitzki also scored 18 points and Vince Carter tallied 15 as the Mavericks won for the sixth time in eight games.

Goran Dragic had 18 points and eight assists and Luis Scola added 14 points as Phoenix dropped to 2-2 under interim coach Lindsey Hunter and 4-19 on the road.

The contest was tied at 16-16 seven minutes into the game before Dallas outscored Phoenix 30-10 over a 10-minute span to take a 20-point lead on Marion’s basket with 7:03 left in the half. The Mavericks led 57-42 at halftime.

Phoenix moved within five early in the final quarter before Dallas pulled away with a 19-5 burst to take a 100-81 lead on Darren Collison’s basket with 6:05 remaining. The Suns never trailed by fewer than 15 points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nowitzki moved past Allen Iverson (24,368) and into 18th place on the all-time scoring list with a basket midway through the third quarter. Nowitzki has 24,375 career points. … The Suns were just 4-of-17 from 3-point range. … Dallas has won 10 consecutive home games against the Suns dating back to Phoenix’s double-overtime victory on March 14, 2007.
