Knicks 104, Mavericks 94:
Carmelo Anthony went for 31 points and seven rebounds and J.R. Smith scored 22 points off the bench as host New York kept its undefeated record intact.

Ronnie Brewer scored 13 points and Tyson Chandler chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds for the Knicks, who turned up the defense in the second half in order to hold their fourth straight opponent under the century mark.

O.J. Mayo went 5-of-10 from 3-point range en route to 23 points and Vince Carter scored 15 for Dallas, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. The Mavericks committed 20 turnovers and shot just 35 percent in the second half.

New York trailed early in the third quarter before Smith caught fire, scoring nine points during a 13-5 run that put the Knicks on top 78-71.

Mayo scored four straight points to cut it to 90-86 with 7:31 left in the game before Anthony hit a 3-pointer and Chandler converted a three-point play to push it to double figures. Dallas went 6:06 without a field goal as New York put it away.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Knicks C Marcus Camby made his season debut and recorded two points and four rebounds in eight minutes. … Dallas PG Darren Collison was 1-of-8 from the floor for four points. He had scored at least 14 in each of the Mavericks’ first five contests. … Anthony and Raymond Felton were handed technical fouls for the Knicks and Mayo received one for the Mavericks.
