Magic 102, Nuggets 89: Glen Davis scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as host Orlando opened a 21-point halftime lead en route to an easy win in its season opener.

J.J. Redick added 15 of his 21 points off the bench in the first half in the Magic's first game without superstar center Dwight Howard, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason.

Reserve guard E'Twaun Moore also had a strong performance with 13 points, including six early in the fourth quarter, as Orlando quelled a comeback attempt by Denver to give rookie head coach Jacque Vaughn his first NBA victory.

Danilo Gallinari, who missed the season opener due to a sprained left ankle, scored a team-high 23 points and had eight rebounds for the slow-starting Nuggets, who fell to 0-2 after another sluggish first half.

Redick had six points in a 9-0 spurt late in the first quarter to build the lead to double digits and the Magic used another 9-0 run toward the end of the second quarter to take a commanding 58-37 lead into the break. Redick and Davis each had 15 points at halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Magic starting F Hedo Turkoglu left the game after suffering a broken left hand. The team said his status will be updated at a later date. ... Denver, which led the league in scoring last season, followed up a 38-point first half in the season opener with 37 against the Magic - its lowest-scoring first half since putting up 31 points against the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 2, 2004. ... Orlando finished with 60 points in the paint, including 34 of its 58 first-half points.
