Monta Ellis scored 33 points to lead five Golden State players in double-figures as the Warriors earned a rare victory over the visiting Houston Rockets with a 106-97 triumph on Sunday night

Houston had won 12 of 13 games against Golden State, and six of seven at Oracle Arena.

Ellis was 13 of 23 from the floor and had seven assists and five rebounds. David Lee had 15 points, 12 rebounds and five assists, rookie Klay Thompson scored 14 on 4-of-6 3-point shooting and Stephen Curry also had 14 for the Warriors.

Houston guard Kevin Martin broke out of a scoring slump with 28 points. Martin had scored 16 total points in his previous four games.

Luis Scola had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Rockets. Kyle Lowry had 10 points and nine assists, while Chandler Parsons and Courtney Lee each scored 11.

Houston failed to score during a four-minute stretch in the second quarter as the Warriors took a 46-38 lead behind Ellis and Curry.

The Warriors led 48-44 at halftime and shot 8 of 13 from 3-point range. Ellis had 14 points and six assists in the first half. Curry scored nine.

Martin scored 10 in the first half. He improved on that in the third with 13 points, including 8 of 8 at the free-throw line. Still, the Warriors kept a slim 76-74 lead.

Martin sat out the first 4 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter as the Warriors built a 90-78 lead behind Thompson and Lee. The Warriors didn't let up, and Houston never got closer than six the rest of the way.

For the first time in five games this month, Golden State kept a team below 100 points. The Warriors entered the game allowing 100.9 points, the most in the NBA.
