Dallas picked up its first road win of the season and beat the Pistons for the eighth time in their last 11 meetings, handing Detroit its fifth straight loss overall.

Nowitzki, who scored 12 of his points in the first half, punished the Pistons' interior defense with his patented fall-away jumper, shooting 9 for 10 for the game.

Detroit trimmed the lead to as low as seven points, but Dallas opened the second half on a 12-2 run to extend its lead to more than 20 points. The Mavericks shot 55 percent from the floor and got three of their four 3-pointers from Vince Carter, who scored 11 points.

Shawn Marion chipped in with 14 points.

The Pistons, playing their fourth game in five nights, failed to score more than 90 points for the fifth straight game during this skid. Detroit has lost by an average of more than 17 points during the slide.

Pistons rookie point guard Brandon Knight, starting for the injured Rodney Stuckey scored 12 points. Ben Gordon scored 11 points while reserve guard Will Bynum led the team with 20 points off the bench.
