Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 57 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder held off the struggling Sacramento Kings, 99-97, on Saturday.

The Kings had a chance to win it when Durant missed two free throws with 5.8 seconds left, but Tyreke Evans couldn't connect on a 3-point attempt with two seconds to go.

Durant finished with 35 points while Westbrook had 22 points, seven assists and five rebounds. The duo is averaging a combined 51.6 points per game to rank just ahead of Miami Heat superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade (51.4).

Durant, who leads the NBA at 29.1 points per game, had his career-best streak of double-doubles end at five.

The Thunder (34-18) stretched their lead in the Northwest Division to four games over the Denver Nuggets and improved to 15-3 following a loss.

Evans had 30 points and nine rebounds and DeMarcus Cousins had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Kings (12-38), who have lost five straight.

The Thunder took the lead for good at 27-24 on Eric Maynor’s 47-footer to end the first quarter.

Oklahoma City stretched the lead to 11 at 60-49 in the third quarter before a pair of free throws by Evans capped an 8-0 run.

The Thunder outscored the Kings, 15-3, to start the fourth quarter for an 89-77 lead.

Oklahoma City has won four straight and seven of its last eight against Sacramento.
