Jason Kidd snapped out of a shooting slump with 13 points over a decisive eight-minute span of the third quarter as the Dallas Mavericks snapped their six-game losing streak with a 109-100 home victory over the defending champion Los Angles Lakers on Wednesday.

Jason Terry and Shawn Marion scored 22 points each off the bench on combined 19-of-28 shooting for the Mavericks, who just completed a winless four-game road trip but ended their longest slide since 2000.

Kidd, who had scored just 29 points on 10-of-46 shooting (.217) during the slide, keyed a 28-11 run over the final eight minutes of the third quarter that turned an eight-point deficit into an 82-73 lead heading into the final period.

Kidd started the run with seven straight Mavericks points, drained a 3-pointer to provide Dallas a 70-69 lead with just under four minutes to play and connected again to open an eight-point bulge three minutes later.

Kidd scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting with 10 assists. The Mavs shot a season-high 55 percent from the field.

Terry’s 3-pointer with six minutes left gave Dallas an 87-71 lead, and the Lakers never got the deficit under 10 until the waning seconds.

Pau Gasol scored 17 of his 23 points in the first half and Kobe Bryant added 21 and 10 assists for the Lakers, who had won eight of nine but fell to 5-6 against teams with winning records.
