Dirk Nowitzki had 26 points and eight rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks ended San Antonio’s 12-game winning streak with a 103-94 victory over the host Spurs on Friday.
Shawn Marion scored the go-ahead three-point play to start the decisive 9-0 fourth-quarter run as the Mavericks (11-4) won their fourth straight game.
San Antonio (13-2) lost for the first time since falling to New Orleans on Oct. 30. Manu Ginobili scored a season-high 31 points for the Spurs.
San Antonio led 88-86 before Marion’s basket and free throw put Dallas ahead to stay. Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler and Nowitzki followed with hoops as the Mavericks took a seven-point lead with 1:44 remaining.
Marion and Chandler scored 19 points apiece. Chandler also grabbed eight rebounds.
George Hill scored 21 points and Tim Duncan added 15 for San Antonio.
Dallas outscored the Spurs 32-21 in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks played without backup center Brendan Haywood, who was suspended for one game due to an unspecified violation of team rules.
