D.J. Augustin scored a season-high 27 points and Stephen Jackson added 23 points as the Charlotte Bobcats beat the visiting Detroit Pistons 105-100 in Paul Silas’ coaching debut on Monday.

Charlotte (10-19) snapped a four-game losing streak in the club’s first outing since Larry Brown was fired last week.

Ben Gordon had a game-tying 3-point attempt go in-and-out with 2.8 seconds left, as Detroit was down 103-100. Charlotte’s Tyrus Thomas hit two free throws with one second left for the final margin.

The Pistons trailed by 11 points with 2:45 remaining but rattled off 10 straight points to pull within one with 1:01 left.

Thomas then scored on a dunk with 46.8 seconds remaining and made a key block on Detroit’s Will Bynum eight seconds later. Gordon also missed a game-tying 3-point shot with 11.8 seconds remaining.

Augustin and Jackson each connected on four 3-point baskets as Charlotte made 10-of-17 3-point attempts.

Charlie Villanueva scored 25 points for Detroit (10-21), while Gordon and Tayshaun Prince each scored 17 points for the Pistons.

Villanueva hit all five of his 3-point shots while shooting 10-of-14 from the field. Gordon hit 4-of-8 3-point attempts as Detroit was 11-for-19 from behind the arc.

Charlotte outscored Detroit 30-14 in the second quarter to take a 16-point halftime lead. The Bobcats led by as many as 23 points.
