The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their 24th straight game Saturday, a 111-105 setback to the Portland Trail Blazers, giving them the single-season mark for the longest losing streak in NBA history.

The Cavs, who once led by as many as five, trailed by four points in the final minute and had a chance to cut it to one possession. But Ramon Sessions’ pass to J.J. Hickson bounced off his shoulder when Hickson had a clear path to the basket. The possession ended without points and the Blazers held on, snapping their own string of woes as they entered having lost four of five.

Wesley Matthews had 31 points, LaMarcus Aldridge had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Andre Miller dished out 13 assists for the Blazers.

Antawn Jamison had 17 points and Sessions added 15 points and seven assists for the Cavs, who have lost 34 of their last 35.

In the process, they tied their own league record for longest overall losing streak, initially set during the final 19 games of the 1981-82 season and the first five games of the ensuing season. They’ll have the chance to break the record for longest losing streak in league history Monday night at Dallas.
