Derrick Rose finished with 29 points and nine assists while Luol Deng added 14 points to help the Chicago Bulls hold off the Los Angeles Lakers, 88-84, on Friday.

Carlos Boozer chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds and Kyle Korver had 13 points off the bench for the Bulls, who have won four straight.

It looked as though the Lakers would run away with it in the first quarter when they jumped out to a 16-4 lead and led 22-12 at the end of the frame. It was 29-17 halfway through the second before Chicago made its way back into the game, knocking down three straight 3-pointers to kick off a 19-3 run and go into the locker room with a 36-32 edge.

It went back and forth in the third until the Bulls made another strong run, closing with a 12-5 burst to make it 66-58 going into the fourth.

Chicago led by as much as 81-69 before Los Angeles climbed back in, cutting it to 83-80 on Derek Fisher’s 3-pointer with 48 seconds left but Rose converted a layup and split a pair of free throws to keep the Bulls clear.

Kobe Bryant led with 23 points and Pau Gasol had 21 for the Lakers.
