Anderson Varejao had 23 points and 12 rebounds, Daniel Gibson had 17 points in the fourth quarter and the Cleveland Cavaliers held the Philadelphia 76ers to one field goal over a crucial 3 1/2-minute stretch in the fourth quarter to escape with a 123-116 victory at Philadelphia.

The Cavs blew a 19-point lead in the first half and fell behind by seven before rallying with their defense in the fourth quarter. A basket by Tony Battie gave Philadelphia a 102-95 lead with just over five minutes to play, but Gibson scored eight straight points to give the Cavs command.

He finished with 22 points for the Cavs (2-3) while J.J. Hickson had 16 points and eight rebounds and Mo Williams had 20 points and seven assists in his first start of the season.

Jrue Holiday had a career-high 29 points and Elton Brand added 20 for the 76ers (1-5). Andre Iguodala left after the first half with a strained right Achilles and didn’t return. He finished with seven points.

The Cavs were 38-for-48 at the free-throw line. The Sixers were 18-for-25.
