Spencer Hawes had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Elton Brand also scored 14 as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the visiting Boston Celtics 89-86 on Friday.

Lou Williams hit the go-ahead shot with 5:05 to play for the 76ers, who held Boston to five points over the final 6-plus minutes.

Andre Iguodala had 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists and Jodie Meeks added 12 points as Philadelphia (34-31) snapped a seven-game home losing streak against the Celtics.

Jeff Green scored 18 points and Nenad Krstic had 16 points and 15 rebounds for Boston (46-17).

Boston led 81-79 after Ray Allen’s 3-pointer with 6:26 remaining, before Jrue Holiday's jumper tied it and Williams put the 76ers ahead to stay with a 20-footer.

The Celtics got within 87-84 on two free throws by Kevin Garnett (14 points) with 30 seconds remaining, but Iguodala countered on a driving layup with 12 seconds left.

Philadelphia used a 16-8 run over a 6-minute span of the second quarter to take a 41-32 lead on Hawes’ 3-point basket. The 76ers led 49-45 at halftime.

The lead grew to 61-51 on Brand’s free throw with 7:09 left in the third quarter before Boston finished the quarter on a 17-11 run to pull within four.
