Phillies starter Spencer Turnbull allowed two hits in six shutout innings while walking one and striking out six.

Jeff Hoffman (1-0) blew his save opportunity by allowing two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but he earned the victory. Gregory Soto tossed a scoreless 10th for his first save.

Brandon Marsh (2-for-4, homer, two runs), Trea Turner (3-for-5, RBI) and Johan Rojas (3-for-4, RBI) paced the Philadelphia offense.

Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas gave up two runs on six hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out three.

Ryan Helsley (1-1) allowed two runs, one earned, in the 10th inning to take the loss.

The Phillies won for the third time in four games while the Cardinals dropped their second game in a row.

Marsh's long ball off Giovanny Gallegos in the ninth inning gave the visitors a 3-1 lead. Garrett Stubbs subsequently reached on an error and moved to third on Rojas' single, but Andre Pallante came on to retire Kyle Schwarber on a flyout.

The Cardinals tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the inning, Herrera drew a one-out walk, Alec Burleson hit a double, Jordan Walker followed with a sacrifice fly, and Masyn Winn hit a game-tying single.

In the 10th inning, Bohm hit an RBI double and Stott doubled the advantage with a sacrifice fly.

Turnbull hit Victor Scott II with a pitch leading off the third inning. Scott stole second base and took third on a groundout, but Turnbull struck out Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman to strand him.

The Phillies took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. Marsh hit a single and eventually scored on Rojas' single. Turner added a one-out RBI single before Mikolas coaxed two groundouts to limit the damage.

Ivan Herrera greeted Seranthony Dominguez with a homer in the seventh inning to cut Philadelphia's lead to 2-1.
