Giancarlo Stanton hit a mammoth grand slam to cap a five-run fifth inning as the New York Yankees extended their home winning streak over the visiting Baltimore Orioles to 11 games with a 7-0 victory Monday night at Yankee Stadium.

Stanton hit his eighth career grand slam and third since joining the Yankees with two outs in the inning when he hammered an 0-1 fastball from reliever Shawn Armstrong well over the left field fence. The ball easily cleared the visiting bullpen and landed in a terrace area adjacent to the left field bleachers.

Before his 471-foot blast, Stanton was 0-for-10 this season.

Stanton homered after the Yankees drew four walks and took a 2-0 lead on a bases-loaded free pass to Aaron Hicks.

Aaron Judge also hit his first homer of the season when he hit a 2-0 fastball to right field off Jorge Lopez (0-1) to lead off the fourth.

DJ LeMahieu added an RBI single in the sixth after the Yankees loaded the bases for the second time.

The blasts by Judge and Stanton kept the Yankees unbeaten at home against Baltimore since March 31, 2019. New York matched its longest home winning streak over the Orioles since April 21, 1955-May 11, 1956.

New York left hander Jordan Montgomery (1-0) allowed four hits in six strong innings. He struck out seven and walked none in an efficient 73-pitch inning, highlighted by three straight strikeouts in the third after Freddy Galvis opened the inning with a single.

Baltimore's only real threat against Montgomery occurred in the fifth when he put two on. Montgomery ended the threat by retiring Ryan McKenna on a force play.

Luis Cessa followed Montgomery with two hitless innings. Aroldis Chapman finished up with a scoreless ninth in his season debut after serving a two-game suspension for throwing at Tampa Bay's Mike Brosseau last season.

Coming off an impressive three-game sweep in Boston, the Orioles were unable to improve to 4-0 for the first time since the 2017 season.

Lopez allowed four runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings, getting pulled two batters before Stanton homered. He struck out five and walked three.

Baltimore's Trey Mancini made his first appearance at Yankee Stadium since returning from Stage 3 colon cancer. Before his first at-bat, public address announcer Paul Olden introduced him by saying "Welcome Back, Trey Mancini".
