Willson Contreras hit a walk-off home run in the 15th inning to lift the Chicago Cubs to a 2-1 win over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon.

Contreras crushed a shot estimated at 424 feet into the left-field bleachers for Chicago's third walk-off victory since Tuesday. The Cubs have won 11 of their past 13 games.

Tyler Chatwood (2-0) earned the victory after pitching four innings of hitless, scoreless relief in the marathon matchup, which lasted more than five hours. Chatwood was one of seven relief pitchers to follow starter Cole Hamels, who allowed one run and three hits in seven innings.

Brewers reliever Burch Smith (0-1) drew the loss after allowing the deep shot to Contreras. Milwaukee used six pitchers out of the bullpen after starter Zach Davies gave up one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Milwaukee broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the top of the fifth. Hernan Perez belted a 1-1 pitch to left-center field for his fourth home run of the season and his first since April 22.

The Cubs quickly evened the score in the bottom of the fifth. David Bote reached on an infield single, and he rounded the bases moments later when Albert Almora looped a double into right-center field.

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant reached base for the 21st consecutive game with a single in the sixth. That matches a career high for Bryant, who also had a 21-game streak in 2016.

Ryan Braun was a late scratch for the Brewers due to left hamstring soreness but made a pinch-hit appearance in the 12th inning, when he struck out. Ben Gamel replaced Braun as the starting left fielder and batted in the No. 7 hole, where he finished 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout.

Before the start of the game, the Cubs activated left-handed reliever Xavier Cedeno from the 10-day injured list and placed right-handed reliever Allen Webster on the 10-day IL because of radial nerve inflammation. Cedeno made his Cubs debut in the 12th inning and walked Christian Yelich.
