Xander Bogaerts and Eduardo Nunez hit two-run homers and rookie Michael Chavis added a solo shot to highlight a nine-run third inning that saw visiting Boston string together 10 consecutive two-out hits en route to a 15-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.

Chavis also homered in the fifth, his third in two games, and finished 4-for-6 with three RBIs, while Christian Vazquez also went 4-for-5 with a run scored. Every Boston starter except Vazquez had at least one RBI as the Red Sox finished with a season-high 20 hits.

Eduardo Rodriguez (3-2) was the benefactor of the offensive support. He allowed one run on six hits over six innings, striking out six while walking two.

Chicago starter Manny Banuelos (2-1) retired the first eight batters he faced, including three by strikeout, before the Red Sox broke loose in the third with 11 consecutive batters reaching base, the first 10 on hits. It marked the first time since July 30, 2010, when Colorado had 11 in a row against the Cubs that a team had that many consecutive hits with two outs in an inning.

In addition to the three homers in the third, the Red Sox had a two-run double by Mookie Betts, an RBI double by J.D. Martinez and an RBI single by Steve Pearce in the inning.

Vazquez had two singles in the frame, including one that started the rally, and Andrew Benintendi also reached base twice with a single and walk before reliever Carson Fulmer got Betts to line out to right to end the barrage.

Boston extended its lead to 14-1 with five more runs in the fourth when the first six Red Sox batters reached base, including two on a pair of errors by Jose Abreu, to extend a stretch of 17 of 18 batters getting on base.

Chavis made it 15-1 in the fifth with a long home run to center, his sixth of the season in just 14 games.

Banuelos, coming in off his first win as a starter since 2015, a 5-3 win over Baltimore on Monday, gave up nine runs on 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out three.

Abreu went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including a solo homer in the eighth off reliever Tyler Thornburg.
