Dodgers 7, Rockies 4: Justin Turner and Juan Uribe each had a two-run single in the sixth inning and Dee Gordon collected three hits and scored twice as host Los Angeles clinched the second seed in the National League.

Scott Van Slyke and Yasiel Puig added an RBI single apiece for the NL West-champion Dodgers (92-68), who have won nine of 13 to match last season's victory total. Scott Elbert (1-0) picked up the win after striking out the lone batter he faced in relief of starter Roberto Hernandez.

Justin Morneau belted a two-run homer and went 2-for-3 to improve his batting average to .319, which leads Pittsburgh's Josh Harrison (.318) in the race for the NL batting title. Charlie Blackmon also had a pair of hits and Ben Paulsen belted a solo homer with two outs in the ninth inning for the Rockies, who have dropped 37 of their last 43 road contests.

Morneau gave Colorado a 3-1 lead in the third after depositing a 2-0 sinker from Hernandez over the wall in center for his 17th homer. Los Angeles rallied in the sixth as Van Slyke's single to left trimmed the deficit before Turner's slow grounder off Jordan Lyles (7-4) found the outfield to plate a pair.

Uribe tacked on two more as his single to center off Franklin Morales scored Turner and Carl Crawford before Darwin Barney's sacrifice fly capped the six-run frame. Elbert picked up the win after five more relievers kept Colorado at bay, with Brian Wilson inducing Kyle Parker to fly out to end the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Morneau improved to 22-for-55 with 12 runs scored in his last 15 contests. ... Lyles permitted five runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. ... Colorado RF Michael Cuddyer went 1-for-4 and is 18-for-44 with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored in his last 11 contests.
