Tigers 3, Athletics 0: Rick Porcello threw his second consecutive shutout and J.D. Martinez smacked a two-run homer as host Detroit made it two straight wins over Oakland.

Porcello (11-4) scattered four hits and stretched his scoreless streak to a career-best 25 innings to tie Masahiro Tanaka of the New York Yankees for the major-league lead with 11 wins. Porcello did not have a strikeout or a walk - the first time that's occurred in a shutout since Jeff Ballard in August 1989 - but registered a career-high 17 ground-ball outs to become the first Tigers pitcher with back-to-back shutouts since Jack Morris had three in a row in 1986.

Detroit supplied Porcello with the only run he would need in the fourth inning as Miguel Cabrera drew a one-out walk off Brad Mills and moved to third on a double by Martinez before scoring on Torii Hunter's groundout.

Mills (1-1), who was acquired from Milwaukee for $1 last month, gave up three runs on six hits over six-plus innings in his third start of the season. Jed Lowrie had a pair of hits for the Athletics, who fell to 9-4 in their last 13 games.

The Tigers provided some insurance for Porcello in the sixth when Ian Kinsler led off with a single and Martinez followed two batters later with a shot into the stands in left, his 10th homer of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Porcello, who entered the season with zero shutouts and one complete game for his career, became the first Detroit pitcher to toss a complete-game shutout without a strikeout or walk since Dizzy Trout in 1944. ... Tigers DH Victor Martinez, who leads the team with 20 homers and a .323 batting average, was scratched for the lineup for a second straight day due to soreness in his side. ... Athletics LF Yoenis Cespedes, who left Monday's game with tightness in his hamstring, also was not in the lineup and will be re-evaluated Wednesday.
