Dodgers 6, Phillies 1: Cuban sensation Yasiel Puig went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and fellow rookie Stephen Fife pitched seven scoreless innings as host Los Angeles won three of four from Philadelphia.

Puig's first four-hit game capped a spectacular first month that boosted his batting average to a scorching .436 for the Dodgers, who received RBI singles from Hanley Ramirez, Matt Kemp and Jerry Hairston Jr. in a three-run fourth inning. Adrian Gonzalez and A.J. Ellis added run-scoring doubles as Los Angeles improved to 8-1 in its last nine games.

Fife (3-2) had his longest outing in 12 career starts, scattering four hits, striking out five and walking one to lift the resurgent Dodgers to within four games of first-place Arizona in the National League West.

The Dodgers parlayed five hits into three runs off Philadelphia right-hander Kyle Kendrick (7-5) in the fourth inning. Ramirez extended his hitting streak to 12 games to plate Puig before Kemp and Hairston followed with run-scoring singles for a 3-0 lead.

Kendrick allowed four runs on a season high-tying 10 hits over six innings and fell to 5-5 lifetime against Los Angeles. Phillies second baseman Chase Utley singled in the ninth to extend his hitting streak to nine games and scored on Jimmy Rollins' single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Puig's 44 hits are the second-highest total in major-league history for a player in the first month of his career, behind only Joe DiMaggio's 48 in 1936. He also broke Steve Sax's (43, 1982) franchise record for the most hits in one month by a rookie. ... Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 0-for-4 after sitting out the previous two games and saw his slump reach 0-for-20 with 11 strikeouts. ... The Dodgers will open a nine-game road trip at Colorado on Tuesday while the Phillies will conclude their 10-game road swing with three games in Pittsburgh starting Tuesday.
