Mets 3, White Sox 0
: Shaun Marcum tossed eight superb innings for his first win of the season and Eric Young Jr. collected three hits and an RBI as visiting New York earned a split of the two-game interleague series.

Juan Lagares scored and drove in a run for the Mets, who failed to score at least four runs for just the second time in nine contests.

Marcum (1-9) limited Chicago to three singles and a double while walking two and striking out a pair. The veteran right-hander, who lost his previous four starts, improved to 4-0 lifetime against the White Sox. Bobby Parnell worked a perfect ninth to preserve the shutout and record his 13th save in 16 opportunities.

John Danks (1-5) took the loss despite allowing only three runs - one earned - and seven hits over 7 1/3 innings. The southpaw struck out seven without issuing a walk.

New York gave Marcum all the support he needed in the fifth, when Josh Satin led off with a single and went to third on a base hit by Andrew Brown, who took second on the throw. Lagares' hard grounder went right past Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez for an error, allowing both runners to score, and Young added an RBI single two batters later to complete the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK: White Sox 3B Brent Morel made his season debut, going 1-for-3. Morel was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte earlier in the day after 3B Conor Gillaspie was placed on the paternity leave list. ... Ramirez recorded two of Chicago's four hits. ... The Mets, who are 6-4 on their 11-game road trip, visit Colorado on Thursday to make up a previously postponed game before returning home for three against Washington. Chicago begins a four-game home series vs. Cleveland with a doubleheader on Friday.
