Trea Turner homered to highlight his four-RBI performance and Erick Fedde overcame a rocky start to toss six innings as the host Washington Nationals recorded a 7-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

Matt Adams launched a two-run homer and Gerardo Parra had an RBI single for the Nationals, who have won five of their last seven games.

Rookie Aristides Aquino celebrated being named the National League Player of the Week by belting a two-run homer in the eighth inning for the Reds.

Aquino's eighth homer in 12 career games -- which set a major league record -- trimmed Washington's lead to 7-4 in the eighth inning before pinch hitter Phillip Ervin greeted Sean Doolittle with a blast to lead off the ninth.

Jose Iglesias followed by collecting his third hit of the night with a single and scored on Joey Votto's two-out RBI double, but Josh VanMeter fouled out to allow Doolittle to secure his 27th save.

Victor Robles and Fedde each had a two-out single in the fourth inning before Turner sent a 3-2 slider from Anthony DeSclafani (7-7) over the wall in left field to give the Nationals a 6-2 lead. Turner's homer was his 11th of the season and second in six games.

Turner wasn't done as he singled to center field to plate Howie Kendrick to increase Washington's advantage to 7-2 in the seventh inning.

Fedde (3-2) shut down Cincinnati after stumbling out of the blocks, with Jesse Winker sending his first pitch over the left-field wall in the first inning.

Iglesias added an RBI double in the second inning against Fedde, who allowed those two runs on six hits before exiting after 102 pitches.

Washington answered Winker's blast in the bottom of the first inning, as Adam Eaton worked a one-out walk from DeSclafani before Adams followed two batters later by sending a 2-2 slider over the wall in center field.

Asdrubal Cabrera doubled to right-center field to extend the inning before coming home on Parra's single to center.

Washington played without star outfielder Juan Soto, who is considered day to day after sustaining a mild ankle sprain in Sunday's 7-4 victory over the New York Mets.
