Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve each drove in a run as the visiting Houston Astros defeated the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 Friday night in the opener of a three-game series.

Houston has won seven straight games. Baltimore has dropped four in a row, all on this 10-game homestand, in which they are 3-5. The Orioles are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees, who hit 16 homers in the series.

The Astros had a number of scoring chances on Friday but went just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Left-hander Wade Miley (11-4), who pitched two seasons for the Orioles, earned his fifth straight victory over his last seven starts. In 5 2/3 innings, he allowed just one run on five hits. Miley struck out four and walked two as Houston never trailed.

Ryan Pressly (right knee soreness) came off the injured list and was one of four relief pitchers the Astros used. Pressly got into and then escaped from a jam in the eighth inning.

Roberto Osuna pitched a scoreless ninth for his 26th save.

Miley outdueled Baltimore's Dylan Bundy (5-12). The right-hander gave up two first-inning runs and nothing else in six innings but left trailing, 2-1. He allowed five hits and one walk while striking out six.

In the first inning, Bregman lined a two-out RBI double in the first inning, and Alvarez drove him in with a single to right.

Baltimore cut it to 2-1 in the fifth when Jace Peterson homered, slicing a fly ball to left-center that just made it into the seats.

Houston stretched it to 3-1 in the top of the seventh when Altuve lined an RBI triple to right, and the Orioles answered again in the bottom of the inning when Stevie Wilkerson got a solo homer, his ninth home run of the season.

Before the game, Baltimore first baseman Chris Davis spoke with the media and said there were no problems between him and manager Brandon Hyde.

Davis appeared to go after Hyde in the dugout during the team's loss to the Yankees on Wednesday. The first baseman said he and Hyde talked it out, and everything will be fine moving forward. He also made the game's final out.

Davis appeared as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and struck out, and stayed in the game to play first base. He lined out to second to end the game.
