Yandy Diaz hit three doubles and scored three runs, and Blake Snell struck out 12 to win for just the second time in his past 10 starts as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Texas Rangers 6-2 on Sunday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Tommy Pham homered and Kevin Kiermaier went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs for Tampa Bay, which won the rubber game of the three-game series.

Snell (5-7) gave up two runs on three hits over six innings and didn't walk a batter. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner threw first-pitch strikes to 17 of the 20 batters he faced and struck out eight of the first 11 batters he faced, including five in a row in the second and third innings. He left after throwing just 80 pitches, 56 for strikes.

Snell had allowed 16 earned runs in his past three starts, spanning seven innings.

Joey Gallo went 2-for-2 with a mammoth home run and two RBIs, and Elvis Andrus also had two hits for Texas.

Jesse Chavez (3-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits over six innings while striking out eight for the Rangers.

Tampa Bay took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Diaz led off with a ground-rule double down the right field line, advanced to third on a throwing error by shortstop Andrus and scored one out later on a sacrifice fly by Joey Wendle.

Texas took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Andrus singled with two outs and Gallo followed with his 20th home run of the season, a towering blast to right that landed in the D-ring catwalk and traveled an estimated 436 feet.

Tampa Bay went back in front, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth. Diaz doubled and scored on a single by Kiermaier. After Avisail Garcia flied out and Chavez hit Wendle with a pitch, Willy Adames hit a ground-rule double into the bleachers in left-center to drive in Kiermaier.

Pham extended the Rays' lead to 4-2 in the fifth with his 13th homer of the season, a 374-foot drive to right.

The Rays added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth when Diaz led off with a double to the gap in right-center and Kiermaier followed with a triple to right. Kiermaier later scored on a passed ball by catcher Tim Federowicz.
